About GirlChild Press GirlChild Press publishes work that celebrates the triumph and defiance of girls and women, and provides a quality forum to bring their diverse voices to the foreground. With the tremendous success of GirlChild's most recent book, Growing Up Girl: An Anthology of Voices from Marginalized Spaces, the press is attracting more projects and writers. GirlChild's next anthology, Just Like A Girl: A Manifesta!, is slated for August 2008. Lit Reviews Are you an avid reader who enjoys expressing your thoughts and opinions? Body Republic is a new and upcoming small press committed to providing venues for women to express themselves. We are searching for freelance writers who are able to review books and are able to write honest reviews of 1-5 paragraphs. We encourage new and seasoned writers to contribute. We are interested in spotlighting reviews and authors who are passionate about women and the challenges and joys of being female. We are especially interested in material that provokes thoughts and conversation about the impact cultural and societal standards and experiences, illness, violence, sexuality, and physical limitations have on women’s bodies. Our editor will need to know who you are in order to get documents signed and so forth. The information requested on our Submission Form is still required however the contributor may remain unnamed in print if they wish. Certainly, others may want to use their real names. |
